Richard Nattis, M.D., FAAO
Medical Director

After graduating New York Medical College, Dr. Nattis completed his Ophthalmology residency training at St. Vincent’s Hospital Medical Center in New York. He now specializes in Cataract, Refractive, and Eye laser surgery and is medical director of Lindenhurst Eye Physicians and Surgeons, P.C. Dr. Nattis has also been recognized in the book titled, “How to Find the Best Doctors in the Tri-State Area.” Dr. Nattis has also been awarded the Physicians Recognition Award by the AMA and is actively involved in teaching medical students and practicing physicians on a regular basis. Dr. Nattis was appointed to the position of Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1991. Additionally, Dr. Nattis has been appointed Clinical Assistant Instructor in Ophthalmology by the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Eye Bank of New York.

Dr. Nattis has been performing laser refractive surgery since it was approved by the FDA in 1995. Prior to that, he had been performing incisional refractive surgery, (RK) since 1991. Our patients have had consistently excellent results with refractive surgery for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism treatment. Jeffrey Nudelman, M.D., FAAO
Pediatric Specialist
Dr. Nudelman completed his medical training at the University of Cincinnati in 1984. This was followed by his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital of Cleveland in Ophthalmology. He then moved to New York after being chosen for a fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Nudelman specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of eye disorders unique to the pediatric population. This includes strabismus (misalignment of the eye) which he also treats in the adult population, amblyopia (lazy eye) and various refractive errors in children (near sighted or far sighted). Dr. Nudelman is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and has been recognized in the book titled, "How To Find The Best Doctors In The Tri-State Area."

Dr. Nudelman believes that all children should have a thorough eye exam by a Pediatric Ophthalmologist between the ages of three to five years or sooner if there is any family history of eye disease.



Cynthia Hsu, MD
Dr. Cynthia Hsu graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University where she earned the Marion Merrell Dow Award for scientific research. She received her MD degree at the University's School of Medicine and completed her residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Medical Institution in Baltimore. Later, she was chosen for Corneal and Refractory specialty fellowship training and also performed research at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Throughout her career, Dr. Hsu has contributed articles and abstracts to a number of medical publications including Retina, Ophthalmologica, Contemporary Ophthalmology, Immunology Letters and Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science. Prior to joining Lindenhurst Eye Physicians & Surgeons, she was in private practice in Newark and Union, New Jersey.

Dr. Hsu is an accomplished cataract and corneal surgeon who specializes in corneal disorders and corneal transplant surgery. She is also experienced in LASIK laser vision correction. In addition to being board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, she is a member of the following medical societies.

Jay Gross, MD
Dr. Gross has been in practice, in Santa Monica California, for approximately 30 years. He was Chief of Ophthalmology at Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center as well as Ophthalmology instructor for residents. He has been honored many times in the field of Opthalmology both by his peers and his community. He has been named America's Guide of the topOpthalmologists for the past 3 years.

Dr. Gross is an accomplished and superior surgeon who will continue to provide the excellent care to our patients that they have come to expect. He brings to Lindenhurst Eye Physicians and Surgeons his extensive experience with state of the art cataract and lens implant surgery in a professional, caring and nurturing manner where patient's concerns and well being are paramount

Sergiu Marcus, M.D., Ph.D., FAAO
Dr. Marcus specializes in vitreoretinal disorders of the eye. These conditions include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and other diseases of the retina. Dr. Marcus completed his medical training at Cornell University Medical College in New York. He also earned a Ph.D from the Rockerfeller University, Biophysics and Visual Neurophysiology Laboratory in New York. He completed a prestigious Retinal Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Dr. Marcus is Board Certified in Ophthalmology. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine as well as the Mt. Sinai Hospital. He is an attending in ophthalmology at the Beth Israel Medical Center in N.Y. as well as on the staff of Good Samaritan Hospital, W. Islip, Southside Hospital, Bay Shore and the Long Island Eye Surgery Center.

Ira Salzman, M.D. FAAO
Ira Salzman has specialized in glaucoma, cataract and laser surgery since 1989. A Board Certified Ophthalmologist, Dr. Salzman received his B.S. from Yale University and his M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he also completed his residency.

He is currently on staff as Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology Residents at North Shore University Hospital, and former President of the Ophthalmology section of the Nassau Academy of Medicine.

Michael LaMonica, O.D.
Dr. LaMonica specializes in the treatment of Glaucoma and other eye diseases. He is also a contact lens specialist. In Addition to his vast clinical experience, Dr. LaMonica has been a co-investigator in many FDA clinical trials. Among those are evaluation of Glaucoma drugs; Alphagan, Lumigan, and Xalatan. He has also done Clinical field trials for CIBA Vision on new contact lenses.
